Restoring the hydraulic integrity of this transmission I rebuilt for a 1996 Chevrolet SS . Photo on the left shows the torque converter bypass valve being tested for wear and you can see the vacuum gauge is only indicating about 12” of vacuum. This bore was badly worn and would have caused the torque converter to fail if it wasn't repaired. Photo on the right shows after the repair now it is at an acceptable reading and will preform the way it was designed and will last many year of driving. This is just one of many steps we go thru when rebuilding your transmission. This is a 4L60E Transmission.
